The beginning of Post Bank started when the owner walked me across the road and said, “how much will it cost for a small sign to make people notice my little bar” At that point I said “I’ve got the sign for you”
The Post Bank building is in-fact the oldest historical building in Mount Maunganui, Pablo Creative consulted with the owner of the bar and luckily, with his love of history, we convinced him to professionally restore the building with the help of the Larry Green Historic Buildings Trust. The renovation has kept the old post office’s essence, and the focus has been on preserving the building’s history and tradition. Attention to detail was essential. It shows in the way the menus are presented in a brown envelope, when opened the menu is laid out like a letter written with an old imperial typewriter. Words that describe the atmosphere within are charming, intimate, sophisticated and fascinating. These qualities even extend to the recently refurbished courtyard.
