The original local bar in Mount Maunganui Astrolabe was a 15 year old bar that unfortunately due to not reinventing themselves went under. When the new owner took over 3 years ago, he was decided to turn it into a Mac’s Brew Bar as he had a working relationship with Lion Brewery. It was decided to keep the name Astrolabe as it had that local connection and with it being a small town it was important to keep. When Pablo Creative came on board, the overall concept that was decided upon was a Kiwi holiday batch theme with a strong link to the Mac’s Brew Bar fit outs.
Pablo Creative has worked closely with the owner and staff members over the past 3 years to conceptualize and develop what Astrolabe has grown into today. What started out as painting the original Mac’s themed murals soon turned into creative direction. Big wins like the astro-turf, caravan and Betty’s back bars formed a trusted relationship with the client which intern opened up the creative freedom to continue developing innovative solutions within the bar. The environment that has been created is to much to explain in words, you will have to pop down and experience it yourself.
